Maria Svensson is an independent dance artist currently based in Co Kerry, Ireland where she is Dance Artist in Residence. She holds a BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London and has worked as a dance artist since 2007 in mainly Sweden, London and Ireland (Dans i Värmland, Daghdha Dance Company, Being Small Dance). She has numerous experiences in performing, choreographing and producing festivals and events (International Dance Day, Choreography Showcase, Going Solo Together), as well as teaching to a range of ages and levels. Her focus lies with performance and interweaving dance with other art forms with a particular interest in how dance can make a difference in society.
I am interested in the art of improvising, in the moment of sharing. Sensing the space and all that that includes. Excited about allowing anything and everything to happen and in that acceptance, allowing the unknown to unfold. Without judgment, letting the intelligence of life to come through. All things are constantly changing; I would like to enjoy these changes.
